A Secret Tool to Use When You're Craving a Life Reset
As Spring draws near, we are starting to get that stirring. I like to think of it as Spring Fever but maybe you have another phrase for it. There’s an overall sense of renewal and refreshment. The stagnant energy from the winter is saved up and we are ready to use it and focus it on something exciting and new!
You may be feeling like a refresh, but you’re not sure where to start? Maybe you don’t even know what part of your life needs to be refreshed.
I’m here to help! Using the tool below can help you by identifying which area or areas of your life you are looking to reset for Spring.
There are 7 areas of life I like to focus on for this exercise. By assessing each one, you will give yourself a holistic view of what you’re craving. Read through each area and see what comes up for you. You may want to make some notes.
Professional: This refers to your job, vocation, or even a side hustle you have. This may also be connected to your financial health. Are you wanting to be challenged? Is it time for a promotion? Are you wanting to finally start that blog?
Enjoyment: This refers to your sense of joy, excitement, curiosity. Are you making room in your life for your passions? When was the last time you experienced joy?
Social Life: How are you spending your time away from obligations? This can include virtual gatherings, but you may be a little Zoom burned out. Are you going through the same motions or are you and your tribe trying new things together?
Spirituality: This is about how you connect with the world. Do you have a spiritual practice such as yoga, meditation, or reiki? Is this something you’ve always wanted to dive into more?
Wellbeing: How do you feel emotionally, mentally, physically? Do you want more energy? Do you want to feel more at peace?
Relationships: This can include intimate relationships, dating, friends, and family members. Do you feel like you have lost touch with people you loved spending time with? Do you miss laughing so hard your face hurts? Do you miss being around people who made you feel safe and secure?
Environment: This area refers to your surroundings, where you live, your home, your very own corner of the world. Has it been a while since you decluttered? Have you been dreaming of painting an accent wall in a bright color? Are you wanting to change where you are entirely with a vacation or a move?
How to utilize this tool:
Start by rating each area. 1, representing an extreme need for change and refreshment. 10, meaning you are all set in that area.
Review your notes and ratings. Ask yourself why you rated each area with a particular score.
Put the pieces together. Notice how they may connect. Are there certain areas that are negatively impacted others?
Take action! For those areas that scored low, ask yourself what you would like to change. Make a list of at least 3 actions steps you can take. As a tip, see which areas could be enhanced by others. For example, if you rated both wellbeing and social life lower than a 6, an action step you could try is creating a walking group with your friends. If you rated both environment and spirituality low, maybe you could create your own spiritual oasis in your home.
Remember to have fun with this! There are no right or wrong answers. This doesn’t have to be perfect. If you get stuck, remember one thing, CURIOUSITY! What are you curious about? This very often leads us to the things we are most passionate and excited about!
